An initial neurosurgical consultation can understandably cause anxiety. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare can significantly improve the experience and ensure that we have all the information necessary to provide the best possible advice.
First and foremost, your radiological imaging is crucial. Please ensure that you have access to all relevant X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. While written reports are helpful, viewing the actual images is essential for surgical decision-making. We strongly recommend bringing the images on a disc or ensuring your referring doctor has forwarded a secure digital link.
It is also highly beneficial to bring a summary of your medical history, a list of your current medications (including dosages), and notes on any previous treatments you have tried for your current condition, such as physiotherapy or spinal injections.
During the consultation, Dr Aliashkevich will review your history, perform a focused neurological examination, and discuss your imaging with you. You will have ample time to ask questions. We encourage you to write your questions down beforehand and to bring a family member or friend for support and to help remember the information discussed.
